Day 1: Arrival in Phnom Penh
Upon landing at Phnom Penh International Airport, you’ll be greeted by a local tour representative who will assist with your transfer to the hotel. As you travel through the city, admire the charming blend of French colonial elegance and traditional Khmer architecture along scenic, tree-lined boulevards.
After check-in and some relaxation, begin your exploration with iconic city landmarks such as the Royal Palace and Wat Phnom Daun Penh. Visit the Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum for a sobering look into Cambodia’s past, and marvel at the Silver Pagoda, renowned for its Temple of the Emerald Buddha adorned with gold, diamonds, and precious stones.
Conclude your day at the National Museum, home to over 5,000 ancient Khmer artefacts crafted from bronze, wood, gold, silver, copper, and sandstone. Overnight in Phnom Penh.
Begin the morning with a visit to the former Tuol Sleng prison, now a moving Genocide Museum. Continue to the bustling Russian Market to browse for traditional handicrafts, souvenirs, and fashionable local wear.
In the afternoon, set out for Silk Island, travelling along the Mekong River by boat. Pass traditional stilt houses, many of which have workshops underneath where artisans weave intricate silk fabrics. Later, enjoy a scenic Mekong River cruise, watching the sunset glow over the Royal Palace skyline. Overnight in Phnom Penh.
After breakfast, it’s time to bid farewell to Cambodia as you transfer to the airport for your onward journey or continue your Asia adventure.
