The second day is dedicated to your travel towards New Jalpaiguri, ensuring a comfortable and scenic ride.
Upon reaching New Jalpaiguri Railway Station, you’ll be greeted by our tour representatives who will escort you to your hotel. After check-in, spend the rest of the day at leisure, soaking in the peaceful surroundings. Enjoy an overnight stay at your hotel.
After breakfast, set out to explore the stunning Tsongmo Lake, also known as Changgu Lake. Located at an altitude of 3,753 metres, this glacial lake remains frozen in winter and reflects different hues throughout the year, making it sacred to locals. Later, visit Baba Mandir, dedicated to the memory of Indian Army soldier Baba Harbhajan Singh, who lost his life in the line of duty. Situated at 13,123 ft between Nathu La and Jelep La Pass, this temple is revered for its spiritual significance. Return to your hotel for a peaceful night.
Begin the day with a half-day sightseeing tour of Gangtok. Start at Banjhakri Falls and Energy Park, a beautiful recreation area conceptualized by former Chief Minister Pawan Kumar Chamling. Next, visit Do Drul Chorten, a large stupa built in 1945, and the Namgyal Institute of Tibetology, home to rare artifacts and a Tibetan library. Continue to the Directorate of Handicrafts & Handloom and the Flower Exhibition Centre. By afternoon, transfer from Gangtok to Darjeeling and unwind at your hotel for the night.
Set out early to Tiger Hill to witness an unforgettable sunrise over the snow-clad peaks of Kanchenjunga and Mount Everest. On your return, stop by Batasia Loop, a spiral railway track with panoramic mountain views, and visit Ghoom Monastery, famous for its 15-ft Maitreya Buddha statue. After breakfast, head to other highlights like the Japanese Buddhist Temple, a tranquil site built under the guidance of Japanese monk Nichidatsu Fujii. Discover the lush tea estates that make Darjeeling world-famous, and visit attractions such as the Himalayan Mountaineering Institute, Padmaja Naidu Himalayan Zoological Park, Tenzing and Gombu Rock, and the Tibetan Refugee Self-Help Centre. Conclude your day with a cable car ride from the Darjeeling Ropeway, enjoying breathtaking views of valleys, forests, waterfalls, and tea gardens.
In the morning, travel to New Jalpaiguri Railway Station to board your train to Kolkata.
Upon reaching Kolkata, check in at your hotel and savour a delicious lunch. Begin your city exploration with a visit to the sacred Kalighat Kali Temple, one of the 51 Shakti Peethas, dedicated to Goddess Kali and believed to be around 200 years old. Pass by the iconic Vidyasagar Setu, or Second Hooghly Bridge. Continue to the Botanical Garden, a vast open-air museum of flora featuring over 12,000 plant species across 109 hectares. Return to your hotel for an overnight stay.
Start your Kolkata sightseeing with Belur Math, located on the west bank of the Hooghly River and founded by Swami Vivekananda as the headquarters of Ramakrishna Math and Mission. Visit Rabindra Bharati University to learn more about Rabindranath Tagore’s life. Explore Dalhousie Square, a colonial-era district featuring Raj Bhavan, Kolkata High Court, Town Hall, General Post Office, and Writers' Building. Head to Victoria Memorial, an architectural masterpiece dedicated to Queen Victoria, and conclude your day at the Indian Museum — Asia’s largest and oldest museum and the ninth oldest in the world.
Enjoy your final breakfast in Kolkata and indulge in some shopping before heading to the railway station for your return journey home.
